Beginning with recordings initiated in 2019, NONEXTANT was originally intended as a collaboration between Lee Bartow and Mike McClatchey (LAMENT CITYSCAPE). With major life changes, both before and due to the pandemic interrupting the process, Mike had to pull out of the project in the early spring of 2020.

It was then that Eric Morgan (A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH) approached Bartow looking to collaborate again after his contributions to the 2014 double CD, PAIN OF THE SAINTS.
As this process continued slowly into 2021, Mike was once again able to join the fold, ultimately not only adding his own layers, but executing the final mix for all of the five original tracks, and as a result of this three-man collaboration, the release has come together in an entirely unexpected direction, with final mastering by Raab Codec (SNOWBEASTS) completing the utterly hulking sonic impact.

On Friday December 17, DANVERS STATE RECORDINGS will release a physical cassette edition, with the addition of six remixes from 2W, COMPACTOR, CUTWORM, FRAGMENT KING, MUDO (Iggor Cavalera) and SNOWBEASTS, and all new artwork by ALCHEMICAL ANATOMY (Nikki Telladictorian). THIS IS DARKNESS will premiere the video for Cavalera's remix on the release date.
